A Presentation by Michael Roberts, to South African activists
This well researched and focused presentation analysed the catastrophe facing South Africa and Africa. The virus will cost sub-Saharan Africa $37 billion to $79 billion in output losses this year. Despite an ANC government in power for 26 years, South Africa the wealthiest 10% still own more than 90% of the wealth while 80% own almost no wealth. Michael argues for debt cancellation, the public ownership of key services including IT, and a socialised economy democratically-run and internationally coordinated.
Participants included the leaders of the left labour federation, union members and a large number of young activists eager to deepen their knowledge and intervene.
